Natural Back Pain Relief with Anat Baniel MethodⓇ NeuroMovementⓇ

Learn to get rid of back and neck pain without stretching.

In 2019, nearly 40 million Americans suffered from back pain - that’s 1 in 4 American workers according to WebMD.  And it’s not only hard physical labor that can cause back injury.  Many of my students at Move and Bloom work desk jobs where they sit all day.  Despite taking breaks to stand and stretch, they still suffer.  And they carry that discomfort home with them, where they feel they can’t move or sleep as well as before.

Back strengthening isn’t necessarily the answer.

Traditional therapies for back pain include stretches and strengthening exercises.  While these have the potential to help, they don’t address the underlying problem: your brain isn’t in touch with your back.  In order for you to move most efficiently and painlessly, your brain has to have a reliable map of your body.  That map is in the sensorimotor cortex of the brain.  Because the brain is a dynamic system, the map can get less accurate over time.  It’s like trying to drive somewhere with an outdated GPS.  The old maps can direct you to turn where there used to be a dirt road, but now there’s a brand new building!

Change your brain to change your pain.

If you’re “crashing” with back pain because your brain maps need a rehaul, you need to give your brain the quality information it needs to learn a better way to move.  One great way to change your brain is by taking Anat Baniel MethodⓇ NeuroMovementⓇ lessons.

Whether you take voice-led lessons (Transformational Movement LessonsⓇ) or lessons on my table (Functional SynthesisⓇ Lessons), you’ll move slowly and comfortably through functional movement patterns to upgrade your brain.  As the map of your body grows clearer and more detailed, your movements begin to feel smoother and easier.  And you can begin to feel these changes right away!  Most students report feeling a change immediately after a lesson.  By doing a sequence of lessons over time, these changes accumulate so that students move better and feel better.

And once you’ve upgraded your brain enough to know what works and what doesn’t work for your body, you’re no longer moving in a way that causes you pain.  When you know what you’re doing, you can begin to gradually add in resistance training with a qualified instructor, if that’s something you’d like to do.

Try these simple seated movements to upgrade your brain:

If you’d like to try some of the movements during a break at work, check out this video:

Please be sure to do only what is comfortable for you.  If you feel any pain or stretching sensations, do less.  If the discomfort continues, stop.  All participation is at your own risk.

The great news is that you can repeat these movements to the opposite side during your next break to continue feeling better.

I love to hear how you're using NeuroMovementⓇ!  After you've tried the movements in the video, leave me a comment here.
